LETTERS: Another fabulous weekend

To the Editor:

I had a fabulous weekend in Peabody and have many people to thank for it. I attended the historical society's moonlight tour and the Victorian Revival Society's Victorian tea and was thoroughly impressed by both events.

It never ceases to amaze me how many individuals get involved with the moonlight tour. Many of you gave a weekend of your time from your busy schedules so the rest of us could enjoy your delightful and comical depiction of Saturday nights in Peabody's history. The historical society chefs prepared delectable soups and pies and fed us additional treats at the end of the tour.

I want to extend my gratitude to the Peabody band members who braved the chilly evenings to fill the air with old favorite melodies and complement the tour's appeal to the senses. Thanks to the talented guitarist who kept us delightfully entertained while we nibbled cookies and sipped cider at the library.

The Victorian tea was such a treat and a wonderful learning experience. It was obvious that the women of the Victorian Revival Society attended to all the details to make the experience so enjoyable. Between the delicacies, period music, decorations, door prizes, and beautiful gowns, the program demonstrated an extraordinary amount of time and care given to provide an exquisite ambiance for our guests. Many of those who won door prizes were visiting Peabody for the event, and I am proud of what Peabody was able to offer them.

Many of you did your part to see that the rest of us would have warm Peabody memories. What a fabulous way to begin the holiday season!
