Grateful appreciation
To the Editor:
I've had an amazing opportunity this past week to witness some incredible things. I'm so grateful to work for a company (Golden Heritage Foods in Hillsboro) with very strong Christian core values. One of those core values is "To reflect God's will and purpose in all relationships through the Christian values of honesty, integrity, respect, and servanthood."
I witnessed "servanthood" this week as our company pulled together to organize a huge opportunity for our communities to help the victims of hurricane Katrina.
Within 48 hours I saw an idea turn into reality as three trucks were loaded with items of immediate need to go to Baton Rouge, La. Golden Heritage team members and local pastors gathered in our parking lot to pray before the trucks left. Golden Heritage Foods team members and people and businesses of our communities banded together to do their part to make it happen.
I sat at my desk this week in tears as I witnessed people wanting to make a difference. I want to thank the community for your generosity and Golden Heritage Foods team members for being willing to serve where possible.
