To the Editor:

My wife, whose maiden name was Beverly Jean Niccolls, was born and spent her formative years in Peabody. Her remains were buried in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery April 17.

Some of her Peabody classmates were able to attend the simple graveside service. Earlene Hague was so kind and helpful in doing the things attendant to this and even hosted a delicious luncheon at her Marion home.

Tony Gaines deserves recognition for handling the procurement of the headstone and many other things. Everything was done perfectly and on schedule. Our three daughters felt like Tony was a longtime friend because of his demeanor.

This is small town America at its best.
