To the Editor:
As I listen to the trash trucks rumble down the street, I am reminded how lucky we are to have the Fall and Spring clean-up days in Peabody. Not only are they a great way to avoid a trip to the dump, but they also motivate me twice a year to DO something about the too-big-to-fit-in-the-trash-can stuff I've accumulated over the past months.
I have never before lived in a town that provided this service, and I think it is tremendous. I want to thank the city for supporting the clean-up program and also the people who work so hard to haul off what we put at our curbs. My back ached just from hauling my own junk to the curb; I can imagine the effort required to do this for the whole town. Hats off to all of you who are involved with this program. You deserve a massage, or at least a day in the La-Z-Boy!
