Letter: Former 'Old Geezer' remembers Peabody
To the Editor:
I have been reading about the old geezer group at Food Mart and thought I might tell you about having five years of experience (1990 to 1995) as an old geezer there (when it was C-Mart), then transferred my membership to the D'Nifty Café here in Bolivar, Mo.
We have solved lots of problems and the City of Bolivar takes care of us out on the street as the enclosed picture will show. (Enclosed was a scan of a "Geezer Crossing" sign at the café.)
Also, the first time I and the rest of the Plainsmen (Harold Taylor, Bob Delk, Eugene Just, and Ray Peirce) were called "old geezers" was sometime in the late '70s or early '80s by your husband when he introduced us as we were about to play at a spring band concert
Outside of a bad ice storm in January that wrecked trees and really did a lot of damage in the Ozarks we are doing OK. We were out of electricity for five days. But really didn't lose anything as a nephew brought over a generator to keep the deep freeze going.
