LETTER: Community-wide forum planned
Dear Community Member:
Educators today have the challenge of preparing students for achievement in an ever-changing world. It requires a new approach to the educational process and proactive involvement by teachers, parents, and the community.
We have students who are bright, intelligent, and wanting to be successful in their education here at USD 398. The problem is this. They struggle within the traditional school setting. Often, because of the frustration they feel, these students end up failing in their classes, become suspended from school, or worse, they drop out of school all together, never to finish the education they need.
Our overall task is to create an alternative action program that will allow students to achieve success while in school and be able to carry that success with them into the workplace and their future.
We are inviting you to a School-Community-Parent Forum on the Alternative Action Program. We will present to you our vision for the program and why it will benefit those students who struggle within the traditional school setting. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and express any concerns that you might have. The forum will be at 7 p.m., Nov. 13, in the Peabody-Burns Junior-Senior High School cafeteria.
Your input is important to us, and we value your ideas. Would you please join us in this cooperative effort? We look forward to seeing you there. Thank you for your time.
Gene Green
