LaVonne hears from family on east coast

LaVonne Ammeter talked to her niece Mary Sue Mayfield of Williamsburg, Va., Sunday evening and grandson Rob Ammeter who called from Charleston S.C., to report on the two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Alison.
Dorene Kirkpatrick and LaVonne Ammeter worked Monday, Tuesday, and Friday in El Dorado.
Maude Gaines ate lunch at the senior center in Peabody Monday and quilted.
Ladies Aid quilted at LaVonne's Wednesday afternoon. Those attending were Leona Widler, Dorene Kirkpatrick, Maude Gaines, and Sherry Nightengale.
Shirley Morgan of Newton called LaVonne Wednesday afternoon with news that her mother Ruth Clark had died. Ruth was Mrs. Glen Clark, a first cousin of LaVonne's.
Maude Gaines and LaVonne went to El Dorado Thursday. LaVonne had an eye appointment. They had lunch, then visited Bill and Marie Clark in the afternoon. Gordon Clark also was a visitor of the Clarks.
LaVonne received word Thursday evening that John Kinney was seriously hurt in an automobile accident. John died from his injuries Sunday night. We shall surely miss him. Our sympathy and prayers to his mother and family.
Marvin and Sherry Nightengale, LaVonne, Maude Gaines, and Margaret Matz attended Ruth Clark's funeral Saturday afternoon in Newton. We extend love, sympathy, and prayers to her family and grandchildren. She will really be missed.
Marvin and Sherry Nightengale, LaVonne Ammeter, Margaret Matz, Maude Gaines, Joyce Barker of Wichita, Clyde and Virginia Waggy, and Gordon and Joannie Clark of El Dorado had pie and coffee and lots of visiting late Saturday afternoon at the Bread Basket in Newton.
Saturday evening visitors of Grandma LaVonne were Donna Ramsey, Alex, Melissa, and McKayla of Florence. McKayla spent the evening with Grandma LaVonne. Stan Ammeter came later Saturday night to take her home.
Maude Gaines and LaVonne attended church Sunday morning at Whitewater Center. They ate lunch at the Chuck Wagon with Hazel Clothier and Jean Everett and visited Elsie Tittle in the afternoon.
