Larry Brown

Remington High School science teacher, coach, and athletic director Larry Brown, 58, died April 28, 2003, at his home in Whitewater.

Born Oct. 6, 1944, at Tampa, Fla., he was the son of Bill and Beulah (Mousley) Brown.

He was married to Jackie Weisser July 2, 1966, at Alma. She survives.

He graduated from Moran High School in 1962, attended Iola Junior College, and received a bachelor of science degree from Pittsburg State College.

Brown taught science, coached girls and boys basketball, boys football and track at Summerfield High School for nine years. He had been at Remington for the past 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; son Monty Brown of Abilene; daughter, Melanie Erickson of Wichita; brother Robert Brown of Tioga, Pa.; sister, Beverly Flack of Gas City; and three grandchildren.,

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the R.D. Allen Gymnasium at Remington with Pastor Scott Martin officiating. Burial will be in Whitewater cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established at the school and with Federated Church, Whitewater.
