The Peabody-Burns Lady Warriors volleyball squad had a pretty good evening Sept. 30, winning two of three matches in Moundridge.
The Lady Warriors defeated Berean Academy and Central Christian, but lost to the host team, Moundridge.
In game one of the first match with Berean Academy the Lady Warriors started slow but played tough late in the game. However, it was not quite enough and the PBHS squad lost to Berean Academy 22-25.
Better team play in game two gave the Lady Warriors the victory 25-16.
Game three was all PBHS as the Lady Warriors dominated the boards 15-2, to take the match win over the Berean Warriors.
The second match of the evening was with Central Christian. The teams played even early, but the PBHS squad took over midway through the game.
Aces were served up by Kali Alstrom, Dalli Hammond, and Sandra McLeod. Hammond put the game away with three ace points, 25-13.
Game two of the match was all PBHS. Marie Unruh served well for the Lady Warriors. Katy Schmidt served an ace for the win 25-10.
In the most competitive match of the evening the Lady Warriors were strong throughout the first game of the match against Moundridge.
Good net play by Gretchen Berns, Sandra McLeod, and Shannon Welsh gave the Lady Warriors a strong showing. Good court play tied the score at 17, but the Wildcats took the PBHS squad 20-25.
Even play started the second game and continued until mid-way in the contest. Unfortunately, the PBHS squad couldn't hang on and the game slipped away 16-25.
