Lady Warriors win one of three

Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warrior volleyball team traveled Oct. 4 to the Inman quad.
They were defeated by Sedgwick, 25-15, 25-22, and also lost to Moundridge 25-19, 25-13. They came back in the final match of the night, defeating Inman 25-20, 13-25, 26-24.
In the first match against Sedgwick the Lady Warriors went down early in game one, 6-1. They were able to come back to within a point at 6-5, and stayed with the Cardinals to 10-9.
Sedgwick would take over from there, scoring seven points at the end of the game to take the victory.
In game two, the Cardinals again jumped out to an early lead. PBHS came back to tie the game at six all, and played close trailing just 17-16. Late in the game it was 24-22 Cardinals, but they closed out the game and the match with the final point.
Traci Windsor had four kills in the match and Becky Morris three for the Lady Warriors.
In the Moundridge match, the Lady Warriors stayed even with the Lady Cats until falling behind 12-11. Moundridge built a six-point lead, but PBHS pulled back to within two at 19-17. They couldn't close the gap and the Lady Cats took the game.
In game two PBHS went down early by 10 at 14-4, and never recovered.
Jessi Hilliard led the Lady Warriors with seven kills in the match and Kali Alstrom had nine assists. Kara Gridley chipped in with seven digs.
Against Inman the Lady Warriors played even and took the lead late, 19-17.
Jessica Gillet led the closing attack, scoring four service points including two aces.
In game two Inman came back to claim their home court. The Teutons built a seven-point lead 15-8, and went on to win the game.
In game three Inman again took control. Gillet had a timely kill that put Gridley at the line to serve the final seven points.
The Lady Warriors won the game and the match. Hilliard had 11 kills and Morris added six. Alstrom recorded 16 assists.
