Staff writer

PBHS Lady Warriors split two league games last week. Traveling to Pretty Prairie Jan. 7, they earned an impressive win over the Bulldogs, 58 to 38. The PBHS squad lost a Friday match-up against Sedgwick, 53-35. The Lady Warriors traveled to Burrton Tuesday and returned home for a Friday contest against Berean Academy.

A very fired-up Lady Warrior team took the court in Pretty Prairie. An early trey by Jana Windsor set the pace for the PBHS squad. The team jumped out to a 14-0 run in the first quarter and led 22 to 4 at the end of the first.

The second quarter was more controlled but the Lady Warriors still managed to score 12 points and took a good lead of 34 to 15 to the locker room at the half.

The Bulldogs kicked up the defensive pressure in the third quarter, but the Lady Warriors widened the gap to 44-26 by the end of the quarter.

All the scoring in the fourth quarter came from Gretchen Berns, who put up 14 points for the Peabody-Burns squad. The Lady Warriors claimed a big victory with the final score being 58 to 38.

"The girls played well tonight," stated Coach Kevin Washington. "We held them to 38 points. We played good defense and good transition."

Sedgwick Cardinals take game

A scoring drought came in the second quarter with the Lady Warriors generating only three points. Also, the Cardinals kicked up the defensive pressure to cause trouble for the PBHS squad. They were behind, 31-16, at half time.

The Lady Warriors continued to struggle in the third quarter and trailed 44-19 at the end of the period.

The PBHS squad looked better in the fourth, scoring 16 points, but the Lady Warriors lost to the Cardinals, 53-35.
