Peabody-Burns Lady Warriors claimed a league victory Dec. 17 over the Canton-Galva Eagles. The Lady Warriors played tough and defeated the Eagles, 58 to 41. Next up for the PBHS squad was on the road Friday at Goessel.
The Lady Warriors came out strong against Canton-Galva and jumped out to an early six-point lead. All the starters put points on the board and the P-B squad led 21-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was more of the same from the Lady Warriors. Good hustle and ball handling made for a big lead and allowed liberal substitutions from the bench. They racked up a 29-point lead at the half, leading by 39 to 10.
Coach Washington made a lot of changes during the second half, playing the reserves as well as the starters. The Lady Warriors maintained the pace and coasted to an easy victory, 58-41.
"We had a couple of very good spurts in the first half," stated Coach Washington. "We got the lead and kept it. We ran the floor better than we have all year." "It was good to get everyone in the game and to be executing well going into the Goessel game," he added.
