Peabody-Burns Lady Warriors hosted a quintangular Tuesday with Moundridge, Inman, Berean Academy, and Goessel in attendance. The PBHS squad lost the first two matches of the evening to Moundridge and Inman but came back to beat Berean in the final contest.
In the first match of the evening, the Lady Warriors took on a tough Moundridge Wildcat team. The PBHS squad took an early 3-0 lead on the Cats, but couldn't counter the net attack of their opponent. The Warriors lost, 5-15, 4-15.
The middle contest was against Inman. The Lady Warriors played hard, dominating the first nine points of the first game. Inman mounted an attack but the PBHS squad won on an ace served by Sandra McLeod.
During the second game of the match, the Lady Warriors lost momentum and didn't score a point.
The third game was much the same as the second with the Lady Warriors only scoring once. The PBHS squad lost the match in three games 15-12, 0-15, 1-15.
The last contest of the evening pitted the Warriors against Berean Academy.
A good lead was built by the Lady Warriors and game one went to the home team, winning on an ace served by Dalli Hammond.
The second game was an even one, point for point for both teams. Berean edged the PBHS squad in a close one.
The Lady Warriors took control early in the third game, battling off a late surge by the Berean squad. The Lady Warriors won in three, 15-5, 14-16, 15-9.
"We have been steadily improving as a team. We just need more consistent play," stated Darrin Schroeder. "I really believe if we become consistent, some good things will happen with the team. Right now the girls are trying to adjust to playing with a play to win attitude vs. A not to lose attitude. I am positive this great group of young ladies will figure it out.
