Lady Warriors roll over Goessel

The Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warriors posted another league win Tuesday at Goessel defeating the Bluebirds, 58-35.
The game at Goessel was all PBHS from the start. Gretchen Berns controlled the inside game and led the scoring in the first period with nine points. Jana Windsor and Marie Unruh each added two. The Lady Warriors led by six at the end of the first quarter, 13-7.
Entering the second period, the defense took control of the game. Jessi Hilliard entered the game to help put pressure on the Bluebirds. Offensively, six Lady Warriors put up points in the period. Unruh had five. Tiana McGee contributed four with Windsor and Dalli Hammond each putting up three. Hilliard and Berns added a basket each. The gap was 20 points in the Warriors' favor at the half, 32-12.
The game remained lopsided in favor of PBHS after the half. Berns, Hilliard, and Unruh each had four points in the third. Windsor put up two and Shannon Welsh got on the board with a free-throw. The PBHS squad was up 47-25 at the end of three.
The reserves finished up the contest in the fourth, coasting to an easy victory, 58-35.
Two more league match-ups are in-store for the team this week on the home court. The girls met up with Berean Academy Tuesday and will host Inman Friday.
