Lady Warriors open with home tourney

Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team took to the court Sept. 4 in Peabody for matches against Moundridge, Inman, and Sedgwick.
In the first match of the triangular, PBHS lost to Moundridge, 25-23, 25-9.
They lost the second match to Inman, 25-14, 25-10, but came back in the third match with a victory against Sedgwick, 25-17, 25-22.
In match one, the Lady Warriors played a close first game against Moundridge. Neither team could put together a run and the spread was never more than three points throughout the game.
Tabitha O'Neal and Clarissa Terronez had aces in the game.
Becki Morris, Julie Wedel, and Jessica Gillet recorded kills.
Moundridge scored six straight points to open the second game, and the Lady Warriors could not recover, losing by 16 points.
The Lady Warriors had a rough two-game match against Inman.
Terronez and O'Neal again recorded aces, and Wedel and Danielle Savage had kills, but PBHS still lost both games.
The last match of the night was better with a two-game victory against Sedgwick.
A tough Lady Warrior service game paved the way for the victory.
Bayleigh Clark, Gillet, O'Neal, Terronez, and Morris all had aces in the match. Kills were recorded by Savage, Morris, and Gillet.
Solomon
PBHS volleyball finished second Saturday in tournament play at Solomon.
The team won its pool play, defeating Elyria Christian, Solomon, and Tescott.
In the semi-finals the Lady Warriors beat Wakefield to advance to the final.
A tough Inman squad defeated them in two games.
The team played Tuesday at Ell-Saline.
Morris, O'Neal, and Gillet served strong to take control of the two-game victory against Elyria.
Morris had eight kills and Savage six to pace the team to a 25-11, 25-12 victory.
O'Neal had seven kills and Savage five to catapult the Lady Warriors to another two-game victory in the match against Solomon.
Clark served six straight to give the team an edge to start the first game. PBHS won 25-19.
The second game was tight, but PBHS held on for the 27-25 victory.
Gillet served two big games with 10 and 12 service points, to put the Lady Warriors in control in the two-game victory against Tescott.
Morris added 10 kills and PBHS took the victory, 25-15, 25-10.
Morris and Savage combined for 14 kills to help the Lady Warriors defeat Wakefield in the semis.
Felecia Pohlman came up big with two tough plays on the final two points to give the Lady Warriors the victory in game two.
The scores of the match was in favor of PBHS, 25-22, 26-24.
Despite playing many good rallies, the Lady Warriors could not get control of Inman in the championship round.
The Teutons were tough on the front line, and PBHS saw a 17-12 second-game lead disappear.
The Lady Warriors rallied to lead 21-20, but Inman ended up claiming both games, 25-19, 25-21.
