Lady Warriors lose two, win one at Sedgwick

In a three-match series at Sedgwick Tuesday, the Lady Warriors lost the first two competitions of the evening but came back to beat the host team in the final match. PBHS was defeated by Inman 20-25, 6-25 and also by Moundridge 11-25, 11-25. The squad rallied for the third match victory against Sedgwick 25-11, 28-30, 30-28. The team plays at Moundridge next, then has a home appearance Saturday in the HOA league consolation tournament.

The Lady Warriors got behind 0-5 early in the first game of the Inman match. The squad attacked the net with kills by Jessica Gillet and Becky Morris. PBHS came to within two, 10-12, on a kill by Jessi Hilliard. Several PBHS errors followed and the team was down again by four, 11-15. Tabitha O'Neal ended a good rally with a big kill to bring the team within three, 14-17. Clarissa Terronez served an ace for the next PBHS point. PBHS lost the last three points of the game.

Game two was all Inman. A series of PBHS errors led to a big deficit. The Lady Warriors only scored six points and lost the game and the match. Morris and Gillet paced the team with four kills each.

Both games of the Moundridge match started with the Lady Warriors trailing early. The Wildcat net attack overpowered the PBHS squad and they lost both games and the match. Morris had four kills, Gillet, Bayleigh Clark, and Hilliard each added two.

In the final match of the night, PBHS picked up the offensive attack after a slow start. Morris, Clark and Hilliard each recorded several aces and the team took the win, 25-11.

Game two found the PBHS squad down by six early. Two aces by O'Neal and a kill by Morris gave the Lady Warriors the edge, 12-11. Both teams played even for the remainder of the contest. Service errors plagued both teams in the final points of the game. Two PBHS errors gave Sedgwick the win, 28-30.

In the game three, the Lady Warriors took control, leading by three, 6-3, early on an ace from Terronez. Sedgwick came back to even at 12. PBHS trailed, but came back to even at 22. Hilliard block gave the Lady Warriors the edge at 24-22. PBHS errors allowed Sedgwick to tie the game at 25. The game ended with an O'Neal ace for the win 30-28 and also the match win. Morris had 11 kills and five aces. Gillet had eight kills. Clark had 29 assists and three aces.
