Lady Warriors lose to Lady Cats

In the first basketball challenge of 2007, the Lady Warriors lost on their home court Friday to Moundridge, 59-46. PBHS traveled Tuesday to Sedgwick and will face Little River Friday at home.

The first quarter was huge for the Lady Warriors. Offense put in 13, led by Elaina Newell with five. Tabitha O'Neal had four. Jessi Hilliard and Jessica Gillet added a basket each. Lady Warrior defense held the Lady Cats to seven for a six-point edge, 13-7, at the buzzer.

Second quarter offense was two free throws from Newell. The Lady Cats took control of the game and ran up a 10-point lead, 25-15, at the half.

Newell put in nine in the third. Gillet and Hilliard each added a basket. Moundridge continued to build on the first half lead and led 40-28 at the end of the quarter.

PBHS offense put in 18 in the fourth, paced by Newell with two treys and five free throws. Gillet and Stephanie Rempel each added a basket. Becky Morris, Hilliard, and O'Neal each added a free throw. Lady Cat offense added 19 and the PBHS squad lost the contest.

Morris led the defense with eight rebounds and six steals. Gillet and Hilliard each had six rebounds.
