Lady Warriors lose one, win one

During a road trip to Ell-Saline Sept. 11, Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warrior volleyball team chalked up a victory and a loss.
In the first match of the contest, PBHS was defeated by Bennington in three games, 21-15, 25-10, 25-15.
The Lady Warriors bounced back in the second match to claim a victory against Ell-Saline, 26-24, 25-20.
The team played Tuesday against Canton-Galva and will play Saturday at the Olpe tournament.
Becki Morris led the attack throughout the Bennington match with 14 kills. Julie Wedel came up with four kills, and Danielle Savage had three.
In game one, PBHS battled to within two points at 17-15, but Bennington controlled the rest of the game, eventually winning by four.
Front row play in game two gave the Lady Warriors an easy 15-point victory. Savage recorded three blocks in the game.
Down by six points early in the third and final game, the Lady Warriors cut the score to 23-21, but gave up the final two points in the loss.
Against Ell-Saline, PBHS trailed early in game one by as many as seven, but knotted the score at 18 with good serving by Tabitha O'Neal.
Kills by Wedel and Savage put the Lady Warriors in position for the victory, and PBHS ended up winning, 26-24.
The Lady Warriors grabbed the lead early in game two, and never let up. Savage came up with a kill and block on the final two points to give PBHS the game and match victory.
Morris again led the attack with 10 kills. Savage and Wedel each had five, O'Neal had two, and Jessica Gillet had one. Bayleigh Clark had 13 assists and five digs.
