Lady Warriors fall to Goessel and Moundridge

Peabody-Burns Lady Warriors' basketball team suffered two league losses this past week. Goessel downed PBHS 48-36, and Moundrdige defeated the Lady Warriors 57-25. The team played at home Tuesday against Sedgwick and travel Friday to Little River.
The first half edge went to the Lady Warriors in the Goessel game. They jumped out to the early lead and eventually trailed 9-8 at the end of the first period. Elaina Newell had six points, and Jessi Hilliard had tow.
PBHS defense held the Bluebirds to four in the second. The Lady Warriors scored seven to take a two-point lead at the break, 15-13. Rebecca Morris scored three points, and Traci Windsor and Hilliard each had two.
The second half was all Bluebirds. PBHS trailed by 10 at the end of the third period. Hilliard had three points, Newell and Jessica Gillet had two, and Morris added a free throw.
Hilliard sank eight free throws and two baskets in the fourth and Windsor added a basket, but it wasn't enough, as PBHS fell by 12, 48-36.
At Moundridge, the Lady Warriors were overpowered early by the Wildcats. They scored eight in the first but trailed by 11.
Hilliard led with four points, while Gillet and Tabitha O'Neal each had a basket.
The second quarter was slow as PBHS scored just seven points. Hilliard had six points and Newell one, as the Lady Warriors trailed 31-15.
PBHS continued to struggle on offense in the second half, scoring just 10 points, and fell 57-25.
