Lady Warriors end season with loss to Remington

Peabody-Burns Lady Warriors ended the season with a 42-28 loss to Remington during the first game of 2A sub-state play. The girls finished the season with a 7-14 record.

Defensive pressure from Remington held the Lady Warriors to six points in the first quarter. Jessi Hilliard had four and Kate Topham added two. Remington scored 12 to lead at the end of the first, 12-6.

The Lady Warriors put up better offense and more defense in the second period. Hilliard had four points to lead the quarter scoring. Elaina Newell added a trey and Topham put in a basket. PBHS closed the gap at the four-minute mark to within three, but Remington took a four-point lead at halftime, 19-15.

PBHS offense made the move to tie the game at 27 at the close of the third. Lady Warrior offense managed the Remington press to score 12. Hilliard paced the team with five. Kali Alstrom and Traci Windsor had a basket each. Jessica Gillet added two free throws. Newell tacked on a free throw.

The fourth quarter was all Remington. Their defensive pressure held the Lady Warriors to only a free throw from Newell.
