Lady Warriors drop two contests

Lady Warriors suffered two league losses this past week. They were defeated by Inman at home, 42-35, and also lost at Goessel, 46-28.

The team will be in action this week with a makeup game Tuesday at Galva.

Lady Warriors held their own in the first quarter of the Inman/PBHS contest. Both teams scored basket for basket throughout the period. The Lady Teutons edged the Lady Warriors at the end of one, 11-9. Tiana McGee put in three. Hilliard, Alstrom, and Windsor each had two.

The game remained close in the second. The PBHS squad took the lead with two minutes to go, but the Inman team came back with just seconds left in the period. The Lady Warriors went to the locker room down by two at the half, 19-17. Elaina Newell and McGee each had three. Hilliard added two.

The Inman squad went on a scoring run in the third, adding 13 to the total. Lady Warriors managed only seven in the period. Hilliard had five and Windsor put in a basket. The gap was nine at the end of the third quarter, 33-24.

Lady Warrior offense went to the perimeter game with some success in the fourth. Elaina Newell added two more treys. Kate Topham also scored three. Hilliard put in two. The Lady Warriors came to within three but the Lady Teutons were cool on the free throw line and iced the PBHS girls, 42-35.

Goessel contest

Lady Warriors were cold from the field in their contest with Goessel. The only offense came in the first during a free throw from Alstrom. The PBHS squad was down 8-1 at the end of the first.

Things picked up in the second, but not from the field. Free throws kept the Lady Warriors in the game. Windsor put in two free throws and a basket. McGee had a free throw and a basket. Jessica Gillet had two free throws. The Lady Warriors were down by nine at the half, 19-10.

The Lady Bluebirds found their wings in the third and put up 13 points. The Lady Warriors continued to struggle from the field. Newell sunk a three and Hilliard scored six, including four free throws. The gap at the end of three was 32-19.

The Lady Warriors scored nine in the fourth, but shooting from the field continued to be cold. Raquel Castillo and Hilliard each had a basket. Hilliard added three free throws and Topham added two free throws. The PBHS squad was defeated 46-28.
