Lady Warriors downed twice

Two match losses at Hutch Trinity Oct. 2 gave the Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team an even 14-14 record.

They were defeated by Remington, 25-17, 25-18, and also lost to Hutch Trinity, 25-15, 25-13.

The squad competed Tuesday at home for the final matches of the regular season, and will compete Saturday in the Heart of America League post-season tournament.

Game one against Remington saw the teams even at three early in the contest.

Remington led by as many as 11 points until a Danielle Savage kill sparked a rally that included an ace by Jessica Gillet, and kills by Savage and Becky Morris.

Savage served three points to make the score 23-17 in favor of the Broncos, but Remington took the final two points of the game.

In the second game, the Lady Warriors squad was behind by four early at 6-2. A rally that included plays at the net by Morris and Bayleigh Clark brought the team back to even at eight.

Both teams challenged for the lead the next 10 points, leaving the game all square at 18.

Gillett and Savage recorded blocks, and Gillet and Morris made kills during the rally.

It ended when Remington went on to take the final seven en route to the 25-18 victory.

The Lady Warriors came out strong against Hutch Trinity in game one, playing even until the score was tied at eight.

Hutch then took the lead and the Lady Warriors played from behind and lost the game, 25-15.

In game two, PBHS took an early three-point lead that included a Morris ace.

With good net play that included kills from Julie Wedel and Savage, the Lady Warriors pulled even at eight.

Hutch then went on an 11-point run that put the game out of reach.
