Lady Warriors defeated twice on home court

Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warriors volleyball team played host Sept. 13 to Little River and Canton-Galva.

PBHS was defeated by Little River 25-19, 25-15, and Canton-Galva, 25-19, 25-27, 18-25.

Game one with Little River was tough for the Lady Warriors. They played from behind throughout the match, pulling to within four at 20-16, but fell by six points.

Traci Windsor had a block and Jessi Hilliard added two aces. Hannah Redger recorded two kills.

Game two was close in the beginning, with the match tied at 10. The Redskins then pulled away for the 10-point victory. Kara Gridley had two kills.

In the first game of the Canton-Galva match, the Lady Warriors took control and never let up. They held off a late surge but took the contest, 25-19. Aces were served by Kali Alstrom, Becky Morris, Windsor, and Hilliard. Alstrom had two blocks.

Game two started with the Lady Warriors once again in control. Canton-Galva made a scoring run late in the contest to tie it at 24. The Eagles eventually took the game, 27-25. Windsor, Hilliard, and Morris had aces.

PBHS struggled in game three, after the Eagles jumped ahead 16-6. The Lady Warriors were able to cut the lead to six, but couldn't get any closer, falling by seven.

"At times tonight we dominated. We just couldn't finish," head coach Darren Schroeder said.

Jessi Hilliard - 12 digs, five aces, six kills, one block.

Hannah Redger - nine digs, four kills.

Becky Morris - seven digs, four kills, one block, two aces.

Tabitha O'Neal - one kill, two digs.

Kara Gridley - 13 digs, three kills, one ace.

Bayleigh Clark - one dig.
