Lady Warriors defeat Goessel, Berean Academy

The Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warriors played the final game of the season Tuesday and defeated Goessel and Berean Academy to finish 8-7 in league play.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to an early lead in the first game against Goessel with good serving from Sandra McLeod and good front row team play.

The Lady Warriors put the game away 25-15 on a kill by Shannon Welsh.

Game two of the match was more competitive with solid volleys by both teams. A Goessel rally brought them to within three of the Lady Warriors but the PBHS squad took control and defeated the Bluebirds 25-17. Marie Unruh made the last point with a front-line kill.

In the second match against Berean, the first game was all the home team with a victory of 25-11.

The second game of the match was more of the same with many substitutions during the contest. Katy Schmidt aced the last point to end the contest 25-17.
