Lady Warriors beat Cardinals, lose to Little River

The Lady Warriors played two games this past week with one win and one loss. PBHS claimed a home victory Dec. 12 over the Sedgwick Cardinals, 51-48. The team traveled Friday to Little River and was defeated 54-19. They played Goessel Tuesday, prior to the holiday break.

The Cardinals had a big advantage in the first quarter, scoring 14. The Lady Warriors only managed five, two each from Becky Morris and Jessica Gillet and one from Jessi Hilliard. The PBHS squad was down by nine at the end of one.

Lady Warrior defense mounted a defensive blitz and held the Cardinals to six points in the second. All 15 points of the offense came from Hilliard and the score was tied 20-20 at the half.

Both teams were aggressive in the third, but the PBHS squad earned the two-point edge at the buzzer, 34-32. Hilliard added six, Elaina Newell and Tabitha O'Neal each added four.

The Larry Warriors did not relinquish the lead again. Ten points came from the free-throw line and the PBHS squad claimed the victory. Newell had two treys and two free throws. Hilliard had six free throws. Gillet had two free throws and Morris added one.

Little River

The Little River/PBHS contest started slow for the Lady Warriors. Defensively, the PBHS squad could not stop the fast-break play of the Lady Redskins. Offensively, the Lady Warriors managed only 11 first-half points.

Newell led the first half scoring with two treys. Hilliard added three points and Racquel Castillo had a basket. PBHS was down 25-11 at the half.

The remainder of the Lady Warrior scoring came in the third quarter. Hilliard put in four. Newell and Jessica Rosine each added a basket. The Little River Redskins went on to defeat the PBHS Lady Warriors, 54-19.
