Lady Warriors add one to win column

The Lady Warriors ended 2006 with a home victory over the Goessel Bluebirds, 45-37. The team will be on holiday break until Jan. 5, when the Lady Warriors will take on Moundridge at home.
Lady Warrior offense made an early impact in the Goessel/PBHS game, putting up 12. Elaina Newell paced the team with five in the first. Jessi Hilliard had four. Racquel added a trey. PBHS defense held the Bluebirds to four to make the Lady Warrior lead 12-4 at the end of the period.
PBHS offense slowed in the second, but the defense held Goessel to five points. The Lady Warriors were up 21-9 at the half. Hilliard had five in the quarter. Newell had a basket. Jessica Gillet and Castillo each added a free throw.
Bluebird offense outscored the Lady Warriors 13-9 in the third, but the PBHS squad maintained the lead 30-22. Newell had five and Hilliard had four.
Nine of the final PBHS points came from the free-throw line. Both teams put up 15 in the fourth and the Lady Warriors went on to claim the victory. Newell scored six in the fourth. Becky Morris added four. Hilliard had four free throws and Gillet added one.
