Pastor Clint Stopple's message Sunday morning, "How we pursue the wrong things of life, till we miss out on the good things" was taken from St. Luke 12:27-31.

Ladies Aid met last Thursday for an all-day meeting. Those present were Denise Lang, Patti Mitchell, Evelyn Sidener, Bev Morgan, Demi Rogers, and Margie Williams. Another meeting will be held Thursday for an all-day work day. The organization had a new outhouse built for the Wonsevu Cemetery. It was set in the cemetery by Jack and Josh Mitchell and John Lang.

I have been out of touch with the community as Bill and I were called to Arkansas due to the sudden death on Jan. 19 of our brother-in-law, Laran Smith. We spent some time with Laran's family and my sisters Julia Reddin in El Dorado, Ark., and Thelma Thigpen in Little Rock. It was a very sad time for us.

Our Saturday and Sunday dinner guest was our grandson, Carl Williams of Manhattan. Bill and I and Hazel Clothier met Jean Everett in the Town and Country Café in Florence Saturday evening for supper. We enjoyed our visit.

Hazel Clothier took Jack and Hope Spain to the Burn's Café and Bakery Monday for dinner. Hazel visited Joyce Hett in Marion Friday afternoon. Lois Huntley of Florence was an additional guest.

Bev Reynolds and Cathy Dowell of Leon went to Larned for their uncle's funeral. They spent the weekend there.

Johnny, and Jaimie Lang and Amy Mitchell attended 4-H Club Day Saturday at the Chase County High School. We're proud of them — they took alternate top blue for their novelty act.

Denise Lang, Johnny and Jaimie and Jaimie's guest Vanessa Yoakem met Jessica Lang and Patti Mitchell and Amy and attended the 4-H valentine dance. Amy was Jaimie's Saturday overnight guest.

Have a good week!
