Labor Day committee plans car show

The Florence Labor Day Committee is sponsoring a car show this year during the holiday weekend.

For the past several years there has been no car show held at Florence, according to Janette Parmley. Previously it was a regular feature of the annual festival.

This year it was decided to see if people would be interested in the event again. It is hoped there will be a big turnout of spectators and exhibitors, to justify the work of hosting the show.

Parmley has talked to others from Marion, Park City, and Kingman about their car shows. These people have been helpful in letting her know what they do to have a successful show. There are people in Florence who are interested in such a show.

For more information, or to register, contact Janette Parmley at janette@kans.com or write to Janette Parmley 711 Main, Florence KS 66851. The phone number is 620-878-4646.

There will be door prizes and other "goodies given away that day," Parmley said.

All participants will receive dash plaques as a thank you from the Labor Day committee for coming to Florence to show their car.

The event is scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, September 2, at Florence.
