Kukula-Henry wedding held at Ness City
Katy Kukula and Brian Henry were married at 4 p.m. June 14, 2003, in the Ness City High School auditorium. The Rev. Norm Simmons of Manhattan officiated at the double ring ceremony. Scripture was read by Amanda DeWitt.
The bride is the daughter of Paul and Pat Kukula of Hutchinson and the granddaughter of LaVonne Vye of Las Vegas, Nev. The groom is the son of Marion and Carolyn Rowland of Peabody and the late Marvin Henry, in whose memory a candle was lighted during the ceremony. The groom's grandparents are Fred and Margaret Hladik and Ed Henry, all of Wichita.
Candlelighters were the bride's nieces Baillie Woydziak and Bryndi Thompson, and the groom's niece Kerri Glover.
Vocalists were the bride's sisters Tricia Kocher and Stephanie Johnson of Hutchinson, Paula Woydziak of Garden City, and another sister and her husband Christina and Eric Haselhorst of Ness City.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Her attendants, all sisters of the bride, were Angie Long of Newton, matron of honor, and Paula Woydziak, Tricia Kocher, and Stephanie Johnson, bridesmaids. A bouquet in honor of a deceased sister was carried by the attendants.
Sally Leatherman of Colorado Springs, Colo., was the bride's personal attendant.
Flower girls, all nieces of the bride, were Camaro and Calloway Kocher and Dawsyn Long. Ring bearer was the bride's nephew Dakota Long.
Eric Yoder of Florence served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Arnold Schmidtberger of Ness City, Brian Smith of Wellington, and Paul Wertenberger of Falls City, Neb.
Guests were seated by the bride's brothers Tim Kukula and Joe Kukula, the groom's brother-in-law Bob Kyle, and Russell Gray.
Noel Sanderson and Julie Christopherson were the guest book attendants.
Program distributors and gift attendants were Jordan Thompson, Anson Long, Brevan Woydziak, Ben Thompson, Dirk Kukula, Zach Glover, Brody Kyle, Clay Woydziak, McCartney Johnson, and Braxton Kyle, all nephews of the bride and groom.
Following the ceremony, the wedding party took a stretch limousine to a reception, dinner, and dance at the American Legion in Ness City.
The wedding cake was baked by the bride's sister Paula Woydziak. Music was provided by Brad Glover, brother-in-law of the groom. Toasts were given by Angie Long and Eric Yoder.
The couple took a wedding trip to Tybee Island, Ga., and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The bride is a 1996 graduate of Trinity High School, Hutchinson, and a 2001 graduate of Fort Hays State University. She will teach at St. Nicholas school in Kinsley.
The groom is a 1992 graduate of Peabody High School and a 1997 graduate of Kansas State University. He is an educator and coach at Larned High School.
The couple resides in Larned.
Rehearsal Dinner
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner and scavenger hunt held June 13 at Ness County High School and at the estate of Mitch and Kim Borger.
Helpers were Mitch and Kim Borger, Mike and Sandi Maier, Treva Ummel, and Allen Goodman.
