Local resident, Bev Wilson, continues to spread the word of hope to cancer survivors through her knit caps. Having knitted 281 to date she was chronicled recently by the Iola Register for donating 60 hats for their Relay For Life, Aug. 10-11.

On Aug. 8, she donated 60 additional hats to the cancer information center, Victory in the Valley, in Wichita.

When asked why she does it, she said in reference to her own chemotherapy treatments, "It was during the cold months when I lost my hair. I wanted to help others in my situation and I said to myself, 'You know how to knit; why not make hats for others who have lost their hair during treatments?' "

To date, all of the yarn used in Wilson's caps has been donated by other caring individuals. She contributed the love.
