JV volleyball endures losses at Marion tournament

Peabody-Burns Lady Warriors junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Marion for a JV tournament. Four teams were in each pool. The Lady Warriors were matched against Marion I, Hillsboro, and Herington.

The team started off with a first game win against Marion with a score of 15-11, but lost the next two games 8-15 and 8-15 to lose the match.

In the first game Megan Weber scored six straight points to put the Warriors up 13-11. Andrea Ferren scored the last two points for the win.

"Jessica Wilson had awesome back row play against a very hard server from Marion," said Coach Doris Unruh. "Once she figured out how to return those hard serves, we had no trouble setting the ball up and attacking. It was fun to watch."

The next match was against Hillsboro and the Lady Warriors also took this match to three games. They lost the first game 12-15 with Kali Alstrom starting the team off with four straight unanswered points. In the second game, the Lady Warriors fought back to win 15-13 with the scoring divided evenly. The last game was a loss for the Warriors, 10-15.

In the third match, against Herington, the Lady Warriors lost 7-15 and 6-15.

"By this time in the day the girls were tired. For the freshmen, it was their first tournament and they now know what an all-day tournament feels like," said Unruh. "They are ready to travel to Berean Academy Monday and compete for the first place trophy the Lady Warriors have brought home the last two years!"
