Juveniles attempt to start fire in park
A report was made to Marion Police Department regarding young juveniles attempting to start a fire April 18 in Central Park, Marion. The reporting party confronted the children and extinguished the fire.
April 17: A subject met with an officer regarding a civil matter. City officials met with an officer regarding damage to an electrical pole. A warning was issued for loud music from a vehicle. City electrical crews were contacted regarding a power outage.
Tuesday: A follow-up investigation was conducted on a forgery case. An illegal animal operation was investigated and a citation was issued for illegal livestock (swine) in town. Two warnings were issued for dogs running at-large. A warning citation was issued for speeding. A lost motorist received assistance. Traffic control was provided when a railroad crossing on Main Street malfunctioned. A non-injury accident was investigated on Eisenhower Drive.
Wednesday: Attempts were made to capture a yellow Labrador Retriever dog running at-large in the area of South Roosevelt Street. A follow-up interview was conducted regarding sexual battery that involved a juvenile. A subject met with an officer regarding a junk vehicle violation. An officer talked to a subject regarding suspicious activity in Central Park. A complaint of all-terrain vehicles on South Third Street was filed. Suspicious activity in the South Lincoln Street area resulted in a meeting with a subject.
Thursday: A dog was picked up for running at-large. Notifications were made regarding the closing of a street at Batt Industrial Park for countywide police training. A warning citation was issued for excessive acceleration. An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of East Denver Street regarding problems with a juvenile.
Friday: A road obstruction was removed at Main and Grant streets. A warning was issued for no tail lights. An officer met with a subject regarding a civil matter. Response was provided in the 300 block of South Lincoln Street regarding an harassment complaint. A suspicious vehicle was stopped in the area of Main and Elm streets; everything was OK. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper received assistance with a DUI stop at U.S.-56 and Timber Road.
Saturday: A funeral escort was provided. A complaint of ATVs operating in the Commercial Street area was made; an officer met with subjects in the area who own ATVs but they claimed it was a subject who lives on the south hill. An ambulance crew received assistance with a run. An officer met with a subject regarding an issue with a driver's license. A lost motorist received assistance. An officer responded to the 400 block of Santa Fe regarding an out-of-control juvenile; the juvenile was transported to Prairie View. Criminal damage to property was reported in the 400 block of South Fourth Street.
Sunday: A yellow Labrador Retriever dog was reported in the area of the 200 block of North Cedar Street; an officer was unable to capture the animal. Concrete blocks were removed from a roadway on South Third Street at the Cottonwood River bridge. A complaint was filed of two subjects disturbing construction signs in the area of Denver and Locust streets. An officer met with an individual regarding the operation of a motorcycle in an alley between North Cedar and Roosevelt streets. Officers compiled a list of junk vehicles.
Officers drove 1,108 miles, and issued one citation and six warning citations.
