Just in case you missed it

In case you didn't bother to read last week's paper, please note in this one the report of the July Fourth celebration taking place next week. Your participation would be much appreciated.

Call Tim Peterson and volunteer to work at one of the gates. Haul in the hay wagon and arrange for the grandchildren to make a float. Help the neighborhood youngsters decorate their bikes. Send a donation to the Fourth Fest Society to help keep the celebration going next year. Invite all your relatives to come see the dog show, the car show, the storyteller, the flea market, the kid's games, the horseshoe tournament, the parade, the museum tours, and of course the big fireworks extravaganza!

Go to the west edge of Peabody and buy fireworks from the historical society. All of the profit will stay here in your community and be spent on projects with an historic emphasis. Buy a button and wear it. It will get you into all sorts of events. Buttons are on sale in just about every retail business. Go to the alumni dance and see your old friends. Funds from the admission charge support a scholarship for a Peabody-Burns graduate. Buy tickets from the quilt project ladies — funds will help pay for new playground equipment at the park.

Look how many worthwhile organizations you can support by just going out and having a swell time on Independence Day. Where can you get a better deal than that? See you there.
