Josephine McCreary
Mary Josephine McCreary, 90, died June 11, 2003, at Legacy Park in Peabody. She was born September 25, 1912, to Joseph and Elsie (Tucker) McCreary in Peabody. They preceded her in death as did her two brothers, Harold and William.
Josephine was a public school teacher in the Heath School District 101, Bellview School District 25, Peabody Elementary School, and the Skelly School in El Dorado. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Friends University in 1961 and her master's degree from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia in 1969.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Peabody and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Graveside services were held at 10:15 a.m. June 14 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, followed by memorial services at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Kloth officiating.
A memorial has been established with the Peabody-Burns USD 398 Education Endowment.
