Jeremy Taylor competes in Baja competition

Jeremy Taylor, a sophomore at Kansas State University at Salina, recently competed on a Baja team in the Baja West competition in Elkhorn, Wis.

This year's competition featured more than 140 other team from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Teams are given a standard Briggs and Stratton engine and then challenged to design and build an off-road vehicle that can undergo a variety of tests and off-road events.

In addition to actual driving competitions, teams also must demonstrate business savvy by developing and presenting a business and marketing plan to a panel of judges.

Teams also must generate financial support for their projects prior to the competition from the local community.

Taylor is majoring in mechanical engineering technology.
