Jean Louis
Jean Louis, 87, died July 22, 2004, at El Dorado.
The daughter of June and Bertha (Ferguson) Williams, she was born July 24, 1916, three miles northwest of Florence.
She graduated from Florence High School in 1934, and taught briefly at Folsum School, a rural one-room schoolhouse west of the family farm near Florence.
On April 17, 1937, she married Wilbur "Bill" Louis. He died in 2002.
She was a devoted housewife and mother and member of Florence United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Don Louis of Denton, Texas; a daughter, Carol Kutz of El Dorado; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Florence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Dyar officiating.
Helen Wenta was organist. Saundra Ruthloff was vocalist and sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace." Congregation hymn was "Beyond The Sunset."
Casket bearers were Terry Louis, Mike Louis, Mitch Louis, Mark Louis, Daric McCoy, Kyle Neely, and Blaine Louis.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
A memorial fund was established with the church.
