Jarred Weems recognized for culinary talents
Peabody-Burns High School graduate Jarred Weems recently was recognized in the Skills USA State Awards Ceremony for his success at a state skills USA post-secondary culinary arts competition, placing first in the state.
Students were graded on preparation of a chicken entree, knife skills, and sanitation. Jarred will compete against other state first-place winners at the National Skills Convention in June at Kansas City, Mo.
Jarred is a hospitality/culinary arts student at Flint Hills Technical College, Emporia, and is the son of Darren and Annette Weems and grandson of Marvin and Thelma Warkentine and Mick and Noreen Weems, all of Peabody.
