I walked the Willow Walk Trail

Springtime is a great time to walk the Willow Walk Trail at Marion Reservoir.

Deciduous trees are wearing their new leaves, the grass is a lush green, and wild plants and flowers of all kinds are in their prime.

I walked the trail Tuesday morning as a cool south breeze rolled over the land from the lake.

The one-mile-long trail has a one-half mile cutoff for those not wanting to walk its entire length. Portions of it run through woodlands, along the lake, and through open grassland.

The path is wide and well-established, providing a comfortable stroll.

Resting places are located at two or three spots along the mile-long route. I even spotted a couple of picnic tables.

The trail is located at Cottonwood Point. A sign points the way. Literature is available at the trail head. It provides a map of the trail as well as information about the various trees growing along the way.

If you're wanting to take a stroll in the country, Willow Walk Trail is a great place to do it.
