Honor a loved one with sign on PeBay

Peabody Main Street is offering a chance to have the recreation complex in Peabody's city park named after a family or a loved one.

The recreation complex sign is up for bid on 'PeBay,' Peabody Main Street's silent auction through the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin.

The winner of the bid will have the sign made to specifications and erected in Peabody City Park for one year. After that year, the sign returns to the bidder.

To bid for the sign:

— Find the coupon ad, fill it out, and mail it.

— Bids start at $100.

— Bid high — this is a benefit auction. Main Street is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization so your purchase in tax deductible.

— Bidding for the sign ends Dec. 5. (In case of identical bids, the winner will be determined in a drawing by Peabody Mayor Tom Schmidt.)

Proceeds from the sign go to Peabody Main Street/City of Peabody signage program. The signage program includes new welcome signs, a lighted limestone "Peabody" sign using the letters from the former Peabody High School, new street signs on Walnut Street to highlight 1880s Main Street, and a continued sign maintenance plan.
