Historical society to meet Nov. 9
Marion County Historical Society will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Morgan House in Peabody.
Following lunch, Elwood King, a member of Butler County Historical Society, will present a program on the Cherokee Indian Trail and where it was located in Marion County.
King has made an in-depth study of the Cherokee Indian Trail and the path the early settlers and gold seekers took on their way west.
Those attending also are invited to tour the Peabody Historical Museum complex consisting of the first free museum in Kansas, Morgan House, Printing Museum, Carnegie library, equipment barn, and an ADA outhouse.
