Historical society receives contribution
Florence Historical Society met June 20 at Harvey House Museum.
Those attending were Marjorie Jackson, Neva Robinson, Twilah Williams, Mary Jane Grimmett, Judy Mills, Krystal Timm, and Sarah Cope.
Members were excited to hear Nancy Landon Kassebaum Baker of Tokyo, Japan, had sent a letter and generous contribution to help with the recent remodeling and redecorating of the museum
Plans were made for the sixth annual "Picnic in the Park" from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Grandview Park. The meal will include a fish fry and mountain oyster feed, corn on the cob, salads, and homemade desserts. Donations for the meal will help support upkeep of the museum.
Recipes for a new Harvey House cookbook, which will be published soon, can be given to Krystal Timm.
Also, it was announced the society will share a booth with other Florence organizations during the Marion County Fair.
