Historical society has successful Christmas tour
The "Christmas Through the Decades" tour was pronounced a success at Monday night's meeting of the board of the Peabody Historical Society.
President Marilyn Jones said the visitor count was 160. "I think the group Friday night was slightly larger," she noted. "But the weather was nicer, too."
Jones said that two of the Friday visitors returned with additional family members for the Saturday night tour because they enjoyed the experience so much.
"We had several groups from out of state," she said. "Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas were represented."
She said that visitors were complimentary of the talent, both of those doing the acting and those who had done the scripting. "They also enjoyed the authentic props of the different time periods," she added.
"And we had many compliments on the singers stationed at the bank corner awaiting the next gusher. Truly, everyone did a great job!"
Jones said the historical society board has not decided whether to plan another tour of this type. "It was a profitable evening," she said. "I just don't think everyone has recovered yet. We will wait and see."
