Hillsboro scholars place third at regionals with 5-2 showing
Hillsboro High School scholars' bowl team placed third Thursday at the regional meet at Marion High School.
In pool play, Hillsboro had a 5-2 record and tied with Hesston for second place. They advanced to semi-finals.
Hillsboro defeated Wabaunsee, 70-40; Hesston, 80-20; Remington, 60-20; and Mission Valley, 50-10. They lost to SE of Saline, 50-60 and Bennington, 25-70 before defeating Beloit, 80-40.
In the semi-finals, Hillsboro lost to Wichita Collegiate, 20-50.

"The kids should feel good about how well they performed against some excellent competition," said coach Stuart Holmes.
Hillsboro students, Robert Jost, Greta Kliewer, Victor Rogers, Clinton Schneider, and alternate Hannah Shope, will advance to state competition Saturday at Rossville.
