Hillsboro High School students nominate homecoming court

Hillsboro High School will participate in homecoming activities this week, culminating in the crowning of the king and queen at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Nominees were announced Friday during a pep rally at school.

High school students and staff watched as the couples were paired during the rally in an apple bobbing event. King candidates had to bob for numbered apples, then were paired with the queen candidate with the corresponding number.

Candidate couples are Josh Boese and Meredith Kliewer, Wade Weibert and Tiffany Knaak, Chad Hughbanks and Laura Skiles, Kyle Kroeker and Danielle Hagen, Macy Fadenrecht and Jessica Kelley, and Rick Johnson and Carrie Schroeder.

Homecoming festivities include spirit week. Monday was "gender bender" day. Students were asked to participate by dressing as the opposite sex. Tuesday students were to wear their favorite team jersey. Tuesday and Wednesday was dress as your favorite movie star or character day. Students are to dress for the beach Thursday. Friday is maroon and gold "sock 'em" day and students are to wear crazy socks.

The homecoming parade and pep rally is at 2:30 p.m. Friday. TAPP will host a tailgate party at 6 p.m. at the football field.

Coronation ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Hillsboro-Collegiate football game at 7 p.m.

The homecoming dance will be held in the commons area from 9:45 to 11:45 p.m.
