Henry B. Schmidt Jr.

Henry B. Schmidt Jr., 94, died Nov. 1, 2005, at Bethesda Home, Goessel.

Born April 6, 1911, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Henry B. and Eva (Hiebert) Schmidt.

He was a farmer and dairyman.

On Oct. 20, 1933, he married Esther Klassen at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Goessel.

He was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church and a charter member of First Mennonite Church of Burns. He also was a former member of Walton Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Rudy Schmidt; and sister, Olga Schmidt.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Schmidt of Newton, Linford Schmidt of Omaha, Neb., and Alfred Schmidt of Walton; two sisters, Mary Hiebert of Whitewater and Elda Mellott of Peabody; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Goessel, with Pastor Corey Miller, Chaplain Walt Friesen, and Pastor Karen Andres officiating.

Burial was in Tabor Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Mennonite Central Committee or with Bethesda Home.
