Helen Storbeck

Helen I. Storbeck, 80, of Winfield, died Oct. 1, 2007, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

Born Jan. 20, 1927, at Peabody, she was the daughter of Gladys and Gilbert (Burton) Manka.

She was raised and educated in Peabody, graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1945 at Peabody High School.

On Aug. 7, 1949, she married Dean Storbeck. He died in 1997.

She also was preceded in death by her son, Todd Storbeck; and brother, Lyle W. Manka.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Storbeck of Park City, Utah, and Scott Storbeck of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Thelma Warkentine and Marjorie Morgan, both of Peabody; brother, Roy Manka of Peabody; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at the First United Methodist Church, Winfield, with the Rev. Phyllis Kumorowski and Bishop Richard Wilke officiating.

Memorial funds have been established with the Todd R. Storbeck Endowed Scholarship at Southwestern College, Winfield, the Legacy Foundation, or the Storbeck Youth Fund at the First United Methodist Church.
