Hattie Laughridge
Hattie Mary Laughridge, 97, died Jan. 22, 2004, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
Born Nov. 7, 1906, she was the daughter of Constine and Mary (Johnson) Rosiere. She attended rural schools in Marion County.
When her mother died, she lived for eight years with her grandmother, Mrs. Felix Rosiere. She later stayed with her father.
In 1930 she married Russell Whitford. A son, John Robert, was born in 1932, but only lived nine days. Her husband died in 1937.
On Dec. 23, 1941, she married Robert Laughridge. The couple moved to Cedar Point, where they lived for more than 50 years. In February 1992, they moved to Peabody Community Living Center. Robert died in 2000. She moved to Marion Manor in November 2003.
While in Cedar Point she was a member of Cedar Point United Methodist Church and belonged to United Methodist Women, Delta Club at Cedar Point, and Eastern Star at Marion. She served as matron in Eastern Star. She also was a Cedar Point news correspondent for the Marion County Record for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, husband, Russell Whitford, son, John Whitford, and second husband, Robert Laughridge.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zeiner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating.
Vocalist was Connie Donatelli and organist was Dolly Soyez. The song was "Take My Hand Precious Lord."
Burial was in Grant Township Cemetery, rural Marion.
A memorial fund has been established with Youthville, Newton.
