Irene Elisha, hostess for the Burns senior citizens potluck dinner and meeting Nov. 12, shared a video "Harvey House Girls" by Sunflower Journeys. Part of it was taped in Florence with Neva Robinson narrating. Judy Mills and Sarah Cope also were in the video. Several seniors told of having relatives that were Harvey Girls: Irene's aunt, James Olberding's grandmother, Evelyn Sidener an aunt and her uncle worked in the kitchen, Gene Obee's aunt, and Norm Martin's aunt.
After dinner the group wished Marion Cubbage and Joyce Kyle Happy Birthday. Kathleen Brenzikofer, president, read an article "Thankful" and an e-mail "Forrest Gump Dies and Goes to Heaven." LaVonne Ammeter talked about an article in Chicken Soup for Women.
Announcements included commodities to be distributed Nov. 21. Lighting of the Hospice Tree in Marion will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 2. Evelyn Sidener attended a CSA meeting Oct. 29 in Hillsboro.
Another video "Sandhill Seasons" by Haythorn Cattle and Land company in Ogallala and Arthur, Neb., also was shown. Both videos were enjoyed.
Attending the meeting were Don and Laverna Parrish, Kathleen Brenzikofer, Irene Elisha, Esther Nelson, Marion and Josette Cubbage, Ed, Tom, and Nedy Grimwood, their guests, Monica Barroso of Bolivia, Darlene McGee of Wichita, Gene Obee, James Olberding, Fritz Brening, Albert Gustainis, Lee and Evelyn Sidener, Maude Gaines, LaVonne Ammeter, Norma Martin, Beverly Morgan, and Joyce Kyle.
