Harlan McNinch

Harlan Scott McNinch, 89, died Dec. 7, 2006, at his home in Ness City.

He was born Nov. 6, 1917, in rural Trego County, the son of George Bitler and Clara May (Rogers) McNinch. He had been a resident of Ness City since 1990 when he moved from rural Ness County. He was a farmer.

On May 20, 1939, he married Geraldine D. Johnson in Beeler. She died May 31, 1996.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold E. McNinch, a sister, Mary Kaler, and a granddaughter, Tracy McNinch.

Survivors include three sons, James and wife, Sue, of Arkansas City, Harlan E. and wife, Dorothy, of Houston, Texas, and George E. of Pueblo, Colo.; a daughter Roxie Thornburg and husband, Roy, of Utica; two sisters, Bertha Snare of Torrance, Calif., and Bessie Michaelis of Peabody; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 11 at United Methodist Church, Ness City. Burial was in the Arnold Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Walnut Valley Masonic Lodge No. 191 or the Renal Care Group of Hays, both in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home at Ness City.

Bessie Michaelis and Sharon Oursler of Peabody attended the services.
