Hague grandson serves as USAF flight test engineer

Grandmother Earlene Hague of Marion is rightfully proud of her grandson, USAF Capt. Tyler N. "Nick" Hague, who is a student in flight testing aircraft school at Edwards AFB in California.

He is the son of Don and Bev Hague of Gering, Neb. Don formerly was principal of Peabody schools and the son of Earlene and the late Willard Hague of Marion. Bev is the daughter of the late Carl and Ruth Elling of Marion.

A graduate of the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo., he also earned a master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He is a flight test engineer, authorized for 25 of the USAF's top airplanes ranging from World War II classics to new creations which push the envelope of flight.

Hague is on a two-year assignment with 20 other ambitious aviators, engineers, and navigators at Edwards, the home of legendary aviators of the past including Chuck Yeager.

"I feel like my job is important because I will be helping to shape future systems and capabilities of the Air Force," he said.

He has been involved in developing a program to launch small satellites using the F-15 Strike Eagle jet fighter.

He says the work is exciting. One day his name may be added to that short list of Edwards achievers.
